SEPTEMBER 2017: Asta Vaičiulytė, CAC Vilnius /LIT -> Glasgow /UK
Asta Vaičiulytė is a curator and editor at the Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius. She has curated the Lithuanian Pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017, together with Ūla Tornau, with whom she is running an ongoing curatorial project Ritual Room which until now has taken the forms of a curated group residency, a publication and an exhibition. She has also co-edited a number of CAC publications, including A Storybook About Vilnius: The As If Anthology of the X Baltic Triennial (2010) and Lithuanian Art 2000-2010: Ten Years (2010), and has been an editor of the CAC Interviu magazine – interview based publication about art since 2010.
During her curator residency Asta made several studio visits with artists in Glagow- Gordon Douglas, Elizabeth Murphy, Robert Churm, Sarah Forrest, Georgia Horgan, Alexander Hetherington and Peter McCaughey.
She also made visits and meetings at institutions/initiatives: CCA Glasgow (director Francis McKee and curator Ainslee Roddick), Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA),The Modern Institute, Transmission, The Common Guild (director Katrina Brown and curator Kitty Anderson), Glasgow School of Art (exhibition space curator Jenny Brownrigg), David Dale Gallery and Studios (director Max Slaven), Glasgow International (director Richard Parry), Glasgow Women’s Library, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Good Press.
